I currently serve as the volunteer president in a charitable organisation that supports  & empowers vulnerable single-parent families to achieve positive change.

I am a member and Partner for Charter for Compassion International .

I am especially passionate about providing options based on the latest research in Neuroscience and Interpersonal Neurobiology and am always up-skilling in this area.

 

I have Diplomas in both Case Management & Community Services

as well as my Bachelor of Social Science/Welfare.

I am internationally qualified as a:

  • iRest® teacher This is an evidence based secular mind-body transformative practice that leads to psychological & physical healing and well-being. Based on current studies the Defense Centers of Excellence has approved iRest as a Complementary and Alternative Medicine warranting continuing research for its use in the treatment of PTSD. Yoga Nidra (based on research with iRest) has been approved as a Tier 1 approach for addressing Pain Management in Military Care. iRest has been shown to be effective in scientific trials for conditions including chronic pain, sleep problems, depression and anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

  • Compassionate Integrity Training facilitator. A resilency-informed global program delivered by Life University, the Charter for Compassion and UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Education and Peace.

I am a certified Relax Kids coach and Mindful Mentor.

PEERS®  a manualized, social skills training intervention for youth with social challenges. It has a strong evidence-base for use with adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum but is also appropriate for preschoolers, adolescents, and young adults with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and other socio-emotional problems.

  • Certificate in Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics by Emory University. SEE Learning™ program which builds upon the best practices in social-emotional learning (SEL) programs, but also expands on them by drawing in new developments based on the latest knowledge in educational practice and scientific research. It includes topics such as attention training, the cultivation of compassion for self and others, resiliency skills based on trauma-informed care, systems thinking, and ethical discernment. The framework and curriculum are the results of an international team of curriculum writers, teachers, and experts in education, developmental psychology and neuroscience working collaboratively.

  • Integrating Mindfulness into Clinical Practice, Meditation and Psychotherapy by Tara Brach PhD.

  • The Neuroscience of Attachment‑Focused Therapy for traumatised children and young people by the Australian Childhood Foundation.

  • Moving and SoothingBody-based Somatic programs for children -Revision of the neurobiology of trauma reviewing the theory underpinning how the body achieves states of safety and transformation, using the work of Steve Porges and Polyvagal theory. In particular, focusing on his concept of neuroception of safety. Fundamentals of Sequencing of activities for body-based programs to work with children and young people who have experienced trauma by the Australian Childhood Foundation.

  • I have extensive experience in the Community Services sector across a range of fields including, Social work, Case management, Family - Youth & Children Project work, Homelessness and Domestic and Family Violence. In my capacity as Locum Senior Welfare/Domestic Violence Liaison Officer, my duties included Crisis intervention and counselling and both facilitating & co-facilitated workshops for women leaving unhealthy relationships and those who have experienced domestic violence and trauma. 

  • I have delivered parenting programs including surviving adolescents to both year 6 & 7 parents in a school setting, and transition to school programs across numerous primary schools within the Northern Sydney region.

  • I Co-designed and delivered with my team a program for boys to focus on healthy relationships and what this looks like, including elements of cyberbullying and sexting and a program for girls to focus on self-esteem and self-image, How to deal with peer pressure and how to say no to year 9 students within a high school setting.
